Angry Gabby Otchere-Darko jabs Wizkid, CAF

A leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Gabby Otchere-Darko has chided the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the low representation of Ghanaian acts on the 2017 CAF Awards event despite being organized in Ghana.

The Former Executive Director of Danquah Institute who took to social media to express his fury said it was embarrassing, to say the least.

“CAF was very disrespectful of Ghana tonight by putting up performances from artistes across the continent, including several from Nigeria, and not a single one from Ghana was good enough to be on stage here in Accra? Shocking and, in fact, embarrassing for CAF,” his post read.

Gabby further poked Nigerian act, Wizkid who performed on the night, describing his outfit as not suitable for the awards event.

“Instead of treating us to some good Ghanaian performances, as well, CAF decided to populate the stage with Naija ones plus others, including a Nigerian artiste who was dressed as if he lost his way to the gym. I hear he is called Wizkid,” he posted.

The CAF Awards which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), Thursday, saw Ghana’s Efya opening the show with KiDi closing it. However, some Ghanaians are displeased about the fact about five Nigerian artistes performed on the night.

It is worth noting that the sense of entitlement is simply unfathomable. CAF organising the event in Ghana does not in anyway require that it be populated by Ghanaian artists.
